The Story Behind This Piece:

Deep within the storehouse (Kura) of a century-old folk house in the mountainous northern region of Hiroshima, this set of five Kutani-yaki "Kasho" small plates had been slumbering, protected by layers of time. Crafted during the mid-Showa era (mid-20th century)—a period when traditional Japanese handwork remained central to daily life—these plates are said to have been cherished by the matriarch of the household. In northern Hiroshima, winters are harsh and landscapes are often buried under heavy snow. Amidst that monochrome world, the vibrant "Aote" (green-style) hues and intricate geometric patterns characteristic of Kutani ware served as a brilliant beacon of hope on the dining table, warming the hearts of family and guests as they awaited the coming spring.

For decades, these plates graced the table during New Year’s celebrations and auspicious occasions. They were tucked away in the storehouse about twenty years ago as lifestyles modernized, carefully wrapped and preserved in their original wooden box, eventually becoming a forgotten "memory." Now, emerging once more during a recent restoration of the old estate, they reveal an overwhelming "Mingei" (folk art) value that mass-produced items simply cannot replicate. Even the subtle signs of age are a testament to the family gatherings they witnessed, embodying the profound Japanese aesthetic of "wabi-sabi."

Damage During Shipping – Important Notice
In the unlikely event that your item arrives damaged,
please contact us within 10 days of delivery.
To help us accurately understand the condition of the damage,
we kindly ask you to provide the following photos:

・Photos clearly showing the condition of the outer packaging (shipping box)
・Photos showing the inside of the box, including the packing condition
(such as the presence and placement of cushioning materials)

until permission is given by the shipping carrier to dispose of them.

Disposal of any of these items before carrier approval

1.Global Policy
Customs, Import Fees, and International Shipping:

We do not accept returns, cancellations, or refunds for any reason.
(Examples: change of mind, customs delays, slight differences in color or condition.) However, if a loss or severe damage during shipping is officially confirmed by the carrier’s insurance, we will respond within the scope of that insurance.

Return & Reshipping Costs:
If a package is returned due to an incorrect or incomplete address, refusal, or unpaid import fees,all return and reshipping costs are the buyer’s responsibility.

Even if you cancel after a return, shipping and handling fees are non-refundable.
